Nikon D70s zoom lens?
First off let me say that I am completely ignorant when it comes to cameras. My boyfriend just received a Nikon D70s with a 50mm lens. He however wants a lens that zooms. So I am trying to surprise him with a lens, but really have no clue what to buy. I was thinking of purchasing a 70-300mm lens, will this be sufficient? I really dont understand when it says things like “macro lens” or built in motor. I really wont be spending too much money on this as I know its something he will only use a couple times a year, so im leaning towards Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SLD DG Macro Lens with built in motor for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras. Any advice would be greatful.
First, you do not have to worry about the built in motor issue, that is something related so some newer models.
Sigma is a very good option for lenses and so is a brand called Tamron.
I would weigh what he has a greater interest in. If you want a zoom with to be a “all in one” lens then something like an 18-200mm zoom lens can be very good but if you want additional telephoto ability then get something that goes past 200mm and then there are zooms that go higher like the 70-300mm zoom you mentioned.
