whats the best video camera to use when filming jet planes in the sky?
I’m think of buying a Samsung SMX-F50BN SD Camcorder with 65x Zoom (Black) & 52x optical zoom lens
but i’m not to sure if this is enough zoom to film fast moving high-up aircrafts of all sorts does anybody know if this is a close zoom to a jet plane or any plane of that matter?
at 65x zoom a jet plane will be a spot that jumps all over the frame like a fly on caffine, there is no way a human being could hand hold such a lens steady let alone track motion. a 65 or 52x zoom is for use on a locked down tripod. in other words it is a marketing gimmick and not a useful feature. With a lot of practice you *might* learn how to hold a 15x zoom reasonably steady and track moving objects. If a friend has a 10 or 15x spotting scope, try holding that to see what the problem is. i have taken video of eagles in flight that were nearby with a 12x lens and i practice hand held shooting. i have a fluid head smooth motion counter balanced tripod ($1200) that i could have got the same picture with a 15x zoom. 65 or 52x is truly beyond reason.
