Is this DSLR okay (Canon 1000d Second Hand)?

It is a Canon 1000d with an 18-55mm IS lens
And I have been talking to the seller for a week or two
He says the shutter count is 13764 and he will sell it to me for $400 and will chuck in 4GB SD memory, a remote shutter release cable and 3 lens filters.
I also did a bit of googling on this seller and found his YouTube page,
There is a few videos on there that have been taken with this camera that are a min or two long
I was just wondering if the camera is still any good
Also it is my first DSLR
I have arranged to meet him tonight
