Online Ads Reading My Mind?
Ok, so this might be completely in my head, but it seems like those online banner ads that I see on many sites are constantly advertising things that I was looking at previously.
For example, a while ago I was looking into buying a GoPro Hero HD motorsports camera, and after I did some searching online, many of the banner ads I saw online were advertising GoPros.
Also, I recently was looking into some automotive technician classes at UTI, and since then I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for UTI.
Do these ads go off of your search history or something or is it just a really strange coincidence?
(cracks my knuckles)… those ads, probably “contextual ads”, are based on the cookies on your browser. That means what the others have said about your browsing history is the single factor that serves those. Haven’t you noticed when you do a google search before, the text ads that come up are also similar to what you were looking for?
All of these are part of Search Engine algorithms. It’s funny how much information we are giving SE’s everything we go online really. I can just imagine if the CIA/FBI starts checking on SE server’s on browser activities to get suspects. lol
